How much is the Renta Ciudadana incentive?

The financial incentive of the Renta Ciudadana program is established based on an analysis that considers family structure, Sisbén category, geographic prioritization and compliance with program guidelines, which include guaranteeing children and young people in the household access to health and education services, among others.

Social Prosperity carries out the study based on the Sisbén IV survey to determine the amount, which may amount to a maximum of 1 million pesos every two months. The strategy makes available to the population a calculator that compiles the necessary information to provide an approximate value of the transfer that will be received in case of being chosen as beneficiary.

You can use the Renta Ciudadana calculator here.

No more suspension of the Renta Ciudadana benefit

Last July 23, 2023, Social Prosperity, the entity in charge of the Renta Ciudadana initiative, communicated that around 800,000 households previously excluded from the benefit would have the opportunity to receive the transfers provided by the strategy known as “Transition to Renta Ciudadana”.

The good news comes after successfully validating around 800,000 surveys, which allowed the entity to collate and contrast the information to finally lift the suspension. Thus, households that were waiting for a response regarding the benefit will be able to enjoy it without any inconvenience.

These surveys are part of the “Anticolados” strategy, implemented by Prosperidad Social since the beginning of the Renta Ciudadana program. In order to prevent the selected beneficiaries from not meeting the program’s criteria, the entity carries out constant evaluations of Sisbén IV surveys.

This control resulted precisely in the reduction of beneficiaries to 2 million, considering that the initial goal was to reach 3 million households benefited by the Renta Ciudadana.

Regarding the lifting of the suspension, Cielo Rusinque, director of Social Prosperity, stated that the families in question “will be able to enter the third payment cycle of the Renta Ciudadana transit program, once the inconsistencies have been corrected and compliance with the prioritization criteria has been verified, guaranteeing due process as we had been informing”.

How to check if your family is suspended from the Renta Ciudadana program?

During the month of August, the Social Prosperity entity shared the lifting of the suspension to the beneficiary families. If you have not received any type of communication, you can verify your status in the program by following the steps below:

  • Access “Transit to Renta Ciudadana”.
  • Select the option “Check here if you are enrolled”.
  • Enter your personal data and check the box “I am not a robot”.
  • Click on the blue box with the option “Consult”.
  • Once all the data is entered, the system will show if you are eligible to receive the “Transit to Renta Ciudadana” subsidy.

Please note that families benefiting from the lifting of the suspension will also be able to receive the two previous transactions, so the total income will not be affected.

How is the Renta Ciudadana program going?

In May of this year, after three months of debates, the Colombian government approved the National Development Plan. One of its most renowned strategies is precisely the Renta Ciudadana program, under the responsibility of the Social Prosperity entity.

The initiative is called Transition to Renta Ciudadana (Citizen’s Income) and its purpose is to grant a decent economic income to the Colombian families that benefit from it. The ultimate goal is to move towards prosperity and reduce the poverty that afflicts lower-income Colombians.

The beneficiaries of the Renta Ciudadana subsidy will receive economic assistance for a limited period of time and provided that they guarantee access to health and education services for the children and adolescents in their families.

Under this irrefutable condition, and after verification of the Sisbén IV survey, families receive a series of transfers fixed according to their socioeconomic condition. You can find more information about the Renta Ciudadana subsidy here.
