Attention teachers in Colombia! Do not miss the registration deadline for the Evaluar para Avanzar program

There are three weeks left to register for the Evaluar para Avanzar 3° to 11° program, an initiative of the national government that seeks to strengthen the learning of Colombian children and young people. We tell you how to participate in this initiative.

The initiative comes into effect in order to provide the country’s educators with the tools and resources needed to strengthen the educational strategies and methodologies used in the classroom in a world with great educational challenges.

Participants receive a series of resources that enable them to support and guide students through instruction and monitoring to achieve improved learning for the child and adolescent population spread across the country. This initiative is very useful for the preparation of the Colombian exams, which are similar to the MCAT Practice Test.

Evaluar para Avanzar: what is it?

The program is designed by ICFES with the support of the Colombian Ministry of Education. The strategy aims at accompanying the learning path of students from third grade to the last year of secondary school.

Enrolled teachers receive didactic and pedagogical material that includes knowledge from different school years to be used as a constant resource in the classroom.

Such pedagogical material is designed to assess students’ knowledge and skills with a diagnostic approach and is intended to mitigate the aftermath of virtuality following the closure of classrooms due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the program’s official website, and according to information from the Ministry of Education, the Evaluar para Avanzar strategy includes:


  • Assessment of learning
  • Implementation of academic and pedagogical plans at the territorial level
  • Accompaniment and training of teachers
  • Learning ecosystems (videos, infographics, support guides, didactic cards)
  • Tutoring network
  • Direct work with families

The use of these tools is completely voluntary and will depend on enrollment in the program.

What tools does the Evaluar para Avanzar program provide to enrolled teachers?

The program provides enrolled teachers with a series of booklets with pedagogical content for students in different grades. The booklets focus on the following areas:

  • Mathematics (grades 3-11)
  • Communicative Competencies in Language: Reading (3rd to 9th grades), Critical Reading (10th and 11th grades)
  • Citizenship Competencies: Citizen Thinking and Natural Sciences and Environmental Education (5th to 9th grades)
  • Environmental Education (5th to 9th grades)
  • Social and Citizenship and Natural Sciences (10th and 11th grades)
  • English (9th to 11th grades)

How to register for the Evaluate to Advance program?

In order for teachers to be able to enroll in the program without any inconvenience, the school principal is responsible for pre-enrollment. This option is available from March 21 until August 21.

Pre-registration of teachers

To complete the pre-registration of teachers, the rector must enter the official website of the ICFES and go to the section of the program Evaluar para Avanzar 3° to 11°. Upon entering the platform with the same user name used in ICFES Prisma, the rector must select the option Teacher Management, where he/she can add the information of all the teachers he/she wishes to enroll.

Completing the enrollment

Once the pre-enrollment process is completed, the enrolled teachers will receive an email to the registered email address. This email will contain all the information that the principal included during pre-enrollment, so that the teacher can make corrections if necessary, and will also have a link that will direct the teacher to the next step.

Once in the registration link, the teacher must use the same Icfes Prisma user to enter the platform and view the fields to be completed. Once the requested information is filled in, the teacher will be enrolled. Closing of the call for applications

The Ministry of Education has stipulated the following dates as unique, therefore there will be no extensions of any kind and no new deadlines will be opened.

  • August 25: Closing of the Offline and Downloadable Pdf application window.
  • August 31: Online application window closes.

Please note that all educational institutions, whether public or private, can register for the Evaluar para Avanzar program, however each entity is responsible for completing the registration process on its own. For more information, please click here.
