Attention: these are the transportation restrictions for the August 21 holiday weekend nationwide and the status of the Bogotá – Villavicencio road

Through a press release, the Ministry of Transportation pointed out that vehicles carrying cargo equal to or greater than 3.4 tons will have restrictions on national roads from today, August 18, until August 21, due to the holiday of the Assumption of the Virgin.

The statement also notes that the transportation restrictions for this holiday bridge do not include the Bogotá – Villavicencio – Acacías road, due to the emergency on the Vía al Llano and the limitations of the alternate roads connecting the capital of the Republic with the Meta, according to the provisions set forth in Resolutions 761 of April 1, 2013 and 0002307 of August 12, 2014.
Article 43 of Resolution 0002307 of August 12, 2014 states, “If there is congestion or obstruction of the roads due to high vehicular flow or emergency situations on the days referred to in the preceding article or in any road corridor, the Interinstitutional Committee for the Adoption and Execution of the Comprehensive Strategic Plan for Safety and Mobility shall implement traffic regulation plans (reversible, counter flow, road rings), as appropriate, in order to ensure the mobilization of vehicles”.
In view of this situation, and due to the total closure of the road to El Llano, no vehicle will be able to transit through this road until the transportation authority communicates its opening.
🚨Atención🚨Recomendamos abstenerse de viajar por este corredor de la vía al Llano. Por la magnitud del evento, aún no se cuenta con un tiempo estimado de apertura https://t.co/bJ3Zp1281m

Safety on the roads during this holiday long weekend
In view of the figures of deaths on the roads during the holiday bridge of the Assumption of the Virgin of 2022, in which 58% occurred in urban areas, while 42% were in rural areas, the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) calls for a commitment to safety in mobility to citizens who will travel during the upcoming holiday weekend, especially those who travel on the internal roads of the country’s municipalities.
Simultaneously, during this holiday period, the National Roads Institute (INVÍAS) will implement actions through its National Road Safety Program (PSCN) to ensure safer and smoother journeys. Road users may report any news or public order situation on the roads through option 4 of the toll-free line #767.
