Bogotá-Villavicencio highway: these are the traffic restrictions that will be in force as of August 31
As from August 31, the Bogotá Villavicencio road was reopened for the transit of all types of vehicles, after the authorities reported several closures to restore the road to El Llano, affected by landslides in recent months.
Since last week, only cargo vehicles could transit with restrictions on the Bogotá Villavicencio road. This is phase one, which enabled the road to El Llano for the circulation of cargo transport not exceeding 52 tons.

In phase 2, launched on August 30, the transit authorities enabled the circulation of Bogotá Villavicencio for passenger transportation in buses and vans.
Finally, phase 3 was activated on August 31. With this phase, the road to El Llano was opened to private vehicles, but with certain restrictions.
Restrictions for the transit of private vehicles and motorcycles through Bogotá Villavicencio
Although the Bogotá Villavicencio road was reopened in its entirety, authorities announced that material is still falling, reason enough to limit the passage through this important highway.
According to the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), phase 3, which allows the transit of private vehicles and motorcycles on the road to El Llano, will be carried out with the following restrictions to achieve normality in this road corridor:
- Road to El Llano will be closed at night for all types of transportation
- The opening, in the Bogotá Villavicencio direction, will be from 3:00 am. It will be closed at 2:00 p.m. in the Uval sector (K00+000).
- In the Villavicencio Bogotá direction, the road will be opened from 5:00 a.m. onwards. The closure, from 4:00 p.m., will be at the CAI – Buenavista (K82+300).
Restrictions for cargo vehicles on the Bogotá – Villavicencio highway
ANI also informed about the restrictions for cargo vehicles on the Bogotá-Villavicencio highway:
- C3-S2 cargo vehicles, with gross vehicle weight (GVW) over 48 tons, will not be allowed to transit, as well as C3-S3 vehicles with GVW over 52 tons.
- The circulation of vehicles with oversized loads will also be prohibited, that is, when the load has a width greater than 3 meters and a GVW greater than 52 tons.

Other measures on alternate routes to the Bogotá Villavicencio highway
Authorities indicate that only private vehicles will be allowed to travel on the alternate routes to the Bogotá-Villavicencio highway.
Other recommendations for travelers are to consult in advance the road conditions and road closure schedules, in order to be informed in case there are any updates.

ANI also stated that the Bogotá-Villavicencio road could be closed without prior notice in the event of conditions such as the following:
- Intense precipitations
- Seismic activity of magnitude 3 or higher perceptible in the area
- Landslides (either boulders or blocks)
- Landslides
- Sudden increase in river flows or torrential floods caused by landslides in the bed of the Negro river.
- Structural damage
- Combination of two or more of the factors mentioned above or in other affected locations such as K50+100, K54+000, K55+000 (Quebradablanca), K56+600, K58+000, K64+000
- Protests and blockades
