Thousands of families in Colombia will receive the Renta Ciudadana subsidy. Here we tell you how to find out if you are one of the beneficiaries and where you can claim the subsidy.

The Renta Ciudadana program is a subsidy implemented as part of an initiative of the National Development Plan. It is run by Prosperidad Nacional and has benefited thousands of Colombians.

The objective of the Renta Ciudadana is to promote the financial independence of the beneficiary population and facilitate access to food, education and medical care. Here is how to find out if you are one of the beneficiaries of the program.

How do you know if you are entitled to claim Renta Ciudadana?

For families who received the subsidy during the first cycle, a text message will be issued to the phone number previously registered through the Social Prosperity portal, with the details of the payment method.

If you are a Colombian citizen you can check if you are part of the program through the Social Prosperity portal, with your ID number and date of issue. In the portal you can also check if you have pending payments. This and more information is available here.

I am a Renta Ciudadana beneficiary, now what?

If you are entitled to claim the Renta Ciudadana subsidy, please note that you can claim the amount in three different ways at Banco Agrario:

1. Through a branch or correspondent bank draft: in this case the beneficiary must go to one of these authorized establishments to claim the payment.

2. Through a transfer: to make the payment properly, the beneficiary will have the help of the virtual agent, called Anita. To do so, he/she must contact the bank through the corporate Whatsapp line at +57 1 5948500.

Once in the chat, the user must choose option 1, which corresponds to Renta Ciudadana. Afterwards, he/she must enter his/her ID number and choose option 3. In doing so, he/she will be asked to provide the following information: type and number of ID, full name, department and municipality where he/she wishes to transfer the money to.

3. Through an electronic transfer: the beneficiary can also make the payment through Servibanca’s allied ATMs. If the bank verifies the data and authorizes this method, the beneficiary must use the cardless withdrawal option to make the payment. Please note that in this case the maximum withdrawal amount is $400,000.

If you are entitled to receive the Renta Ciudadana incentive, you should take into account that in order to facilitate the claiming of the subsidy, an order has been established for the beneficiaries to follow, taking into account the number on which the ID card ends.

Monday: ID ending in 1 and 2 Tuesday: ID ending in 3 and 4 Wednesday: ID ending in 6 and 6 Thursday: ID ending in 7 and 8 Friday: ID ending in 9 and 0

All bank branches will take this order into account when collecting Renta Ciudadana.

From when can I claim Renta Ciudadana?

Colombian beneficiary households with a bank account will receive the benefit as of July 7. For beneficiaries without an account, payment began on July 11. Banco Agrario and its allied partners will be in charge of transferring the Renta Ciudadana subsidy until the last day of the month, making payments in a staggered manner.

The program’s economic incentive is set based on an analysis of family composition, Sisbén group, territorial priority and compliance with program guidelines. In this way, transfers of up to 1 million pesos are made every two months.

Families benefiting from the program can check, free of charge, how much money they will receive through the “My Calculator” tool.

The program is designed to combat extreme poverty. In the current cycle, the Colombian government’s investment amounts to 791,328 million pesos.

To date, the majority of beneficiaries belong to the department of Antioquia, with 161,543 families. This department is followed by Bolívar and Córdoba, with 151,552 and 134,758, respectively. This is followed by Valle del Cauca (120,289) and Atlántico (104,162). Finally, Nariño and Santander, with 98,595 and 97,211, respectively.

Please note that being eligible for Renta Ciudadana does not require making payments at any stage. Enrollment in the program and collection of the incentive, as well as access to the consultation resources, are completely free of charge.
