Fosyga: How to consult, download and generate social security certificates

Fosyga Adres
As of August 1, 2017, the Security and Guarantee Fund (Fosyga) was replaced by the now Administradora de los Recursos del Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud (ADRES) with the advent of Law 1753 of 2015.
Although Fosyga data migrated to ADRES, users can still consult and download the Fosyga certificate on the fund’s official website.

In addition, all the information regarding affiliation is available on the official ADRES portal, in the same way as it was accessed on the old Fosyga portal, as we explain below, starting with the step-by-step you must follow to consult and download the Fosyga certificate.
How to download Fosyga
Once you manage to visualize the results of your query, at the bottom you will find the option to print. When you click on this option, all the information will migrate to a PDF. You will be able to save and print the PDF without any difficulty.

How to consult Fosyga
Due to the change from Fosyga to ADRES, users who wish to consult and download the certificate must enter the official ADRES platform and follow the steps described below:
- Enter the ADRES site to consult your Fosyga, where you will find the option to consult your EPS.
- Select the type of identification document and enter the number.
- Complete the verification process by entering the code from the image and click ‘Consult’.
- When you click on consult, you will find a pop-up window with all the Fosyga information related to the identification number previously entered in the portal.
Please note that in order to see the results correctly, you must activate the pop-up windows option to avoid difficulties in viewing the results of your query.
Thus, you will be able to see the results of your query and know if you are an active user in the Colombian social security system, to which regime you belong, along with other details such as the date of affiliation and the EPS to which you are linked.

What is Fosyga
Fosyga was established by Law 100 of 1993 and is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Colombia. Its primary function is to manage the country’s resources with the fundamental purpose of ensuring the provision of high quality medical services in the subsidized regime.
It is important to note that all Colombian citizens of the contributory regime participate in the contribution to this fund, whose main focus is to support the subsidized health regime.
In other words, Fosyga acts as a central financing mechanism that seeks to ensure that segments of the population with fewer economic resources have access to essential medical services.
What does Fosyga do?
Although the main function of Fosyga is to administer and manage the contributions of Colombian citizens in order to support the subsidized system, the entity also carries out other activities.
Fosyga (now ADRES) is also responsible for directing the economic resources obtained from contributions to the entities that belong to the public health system.
In this case, the entity redirects the funds to the country’s Service Provider Institutions (IPS). That is to say, to clinics, hospitals, laboratories and others, so that the entities have the necessary resources to improve their infrastructure.
The fund also gathers funds to support, through sub-accounts, the following aspects:
- Catastrophic events and traffic accidents (ECAT).
- Compensation
- Single database of affiliates
- Medicines and guardianship
- Promotion of the system
