The call for proposals officially began on July 25 and runs until September 7. In total, SENA will allocate $10,000 million pesos for the initiative, which seeks to promote female entrepreneurship in the country through seed capital.

How to participate in the call for seed capital for women entrepreneurs?

SENA’s Emprender Fund finances business initiatives in all economic sectors. In this case, women of legal age with a business idea that they want to develop and for which they require the contribution of seed capital may participate in the call.

To participate in this call, entrepreneurs must take into account that it is subject to the regulations of the Emprender Fund, and must apply for their business project through the Fund’s portal available at this link.

Women interested in presenting their proposals must follow the SENA entrepreneurship path. This is a program through which entrepreneurs receive the necessary tools to improve their performance throughout the call for proposals.

The support route is completely free of charge and involves guidance in the conception of the idea, the validation of a minimum viable product, the preparation of the business plan to be presented in the call for proposals and the preparation of a pitch to present the proposal.

SENA has a series of educational resources -both digital and physical- that facilitate the strategic planning of the use of seed capital and allow entrepreneurs to plan their next steps in the business world.

A program that goes beyond seed capital

SENA’s initiative to provide seed capital to Colombian women is an opportunity to get started in the world of entrepreneurship with much more than economic support. The entrepreneurs will receive ongoing training and education to promote the growth of their business idea.

Although the first step is the seed capital, this is not the only way in which the institution seeks to encourage national entrepreneurship.

Luz Dana Leal Ruiz, Director of Employment and Labor of SENA, says: “We are going to give our women the necessary tools to be an engine of sustainable development”, she says.

The Emprender Fund

As of July 24 of this year, the Entrepreneur Fund initiative had financed 11,685 business ideas. The strategy also generated a total of 44,377 jobs and benefited 14,284 entrepreneurs. This is not the only SENA initiative to promote Colombian entrepreneurship; however, it is the most general in scope, as almost anyone can participate in its call for proposals.

Obtaining seed capital from Emprender Fund is possible for:
