Subsidies of the Colombia Mayor Program are already being delivered: steps to claim them, last days to go
Since August 10, the Colombia Mayor program of the Department for Social Prosperity (DPS) has been making transfers to its beneficiaries. This is the 7th transfer cycle, corresponding to July 2023, with which 1,622,175 beneficiaries will receive an economic assistance of $80,000.

How to claim the Colombia Mayor assistance
According to the DPS, the national government allocated more than $138.6 billion for monetary transfers for the country’s senior citizens.
Transfers are being made from August 10 until the 24th of this month. To claim the Colombia Mayor benefit, beneficiaries must go to any Supergiros point and its allied network and withdraw the amount of $80,000.
However, people over 90 years of age or those who have health limitations and cannot travel to the delivery points may request the delivery of the economic assistance directly to their home.
For this purpose, it is important that beneficiaries keep their personal information updated in the Social Participation system. In this way, the company in charge of the monetary delivery, Supergiros, will contact the beneficiary to coordinate the delivery, explains the DPS.
For beneficiaries of Colombia Mayor who are in Bogota, the amount to be claimed is $130,000 due to the $50,000 co-financing made by the Mayor’s Office of Bogota for each beneficiary.

The Department for Social Prosperity notes that, prior to the start of each cycle, the entity will send text messages to each beneficiary to announce the dates.
At the time of claiming the economic assistance at the Supergiros attention points, the entity recommends beneficiaries to tell the cashier that they are going to claim the transfer from Colombia Mayor.
And it points out that when they receive the money, beneficiaries must count it in front of the cashier and request the payment slip to verify that the amount received corresponds to the value registered on the slip.
Finally, he reminds that in order to receive the Colombia Mayor transfer, beneficiaries do not need to buy any product at Supergiros.

Colombia Mayor
According to the DPS, the purpose of the Social Protection Program for the Elderly, better known as Colombia Mayor, is to strengthen the security of the elderly by providing an economic subsidy.
This support is aimed at those who face homelessness, lack a pension or live in conditions of extreme poverty.
To enroll in the Colombia Mayor program, interested parties must meet the following requirements:
- Be Colombian.
- Have lived in the country for the last ten years.
- The minimum age to enroll in Colombia Mayor is 54 years old for women and 59 years old for men.
- Not having sufficient income and being in Sisbén IV in any level of groups A, B and C up to a maximum of C1.
